2. the thistle ->

A quick jump in time from the previous page finds the basic fork- one steerer, one crown, two blades and two dropouts- brazed together and slapped into the cool fixture that holds the brake bosses still whilst they are torched.

Sometimes I attach the bosses with silver, sometimes (as seen here) with brass; probably more often with brass, it just depends on the fork. Brass fills gaps, and can allow more of a fillet effect, better than silver, but both are plenty strong enough for the task of holding the bosses in place.
